About a week ago I spent a little more money that usual and bought a small amount of seed, bulbs, and compost. I also bought some plastic starting trays, since I wanted to make sure the method that I would be using would actually work. This time around I purchased:
- Swiss Chard
- Four O’ Clocks
Those Negative Nancy(s) and Debbie Downer(s) were at it again but I went ahead and repurposed my coffee cans and milk jugs to make some tiny planters to get the starts going. The rest of the seed was planted in my plastic trays. About a week later, I transplanted my tiny plants under my hoop greenhouse. The cucumbers took off but the Swiss Chard looks a bit sad. Alas, not all seedlings will be successful.
This morning I had to go ahead and move the container garden again. The horseherb has been spreading rapidly across the clay earth due to all the watering the container garden gets in the mornings. Dad really likes his grass, so I had to move my herbs and veggies over against the bare fence line. But hey, they have way more sunlight there! That’s always a good thing.
As always be kind and tender to one another.
